"A Tribute to South Florida Chefs"

Chaired by Michelle Bernstein, the James Beard Award Winner for Best Chef of the South The World Trade Center Miami and South Florida Gourmet are joining forces to bring back a popular event to this year’s Americas Food and Beverage Show, running September 24 - 26, 2008 at the Miami Beach Convention Center. The show’s kick-off event, “A Tribute to South Florida Chefs”, will be held on Wednesday, September 24 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to pay tribute to the outstanding chefs of South Florida. The event offers a unique opportunity for chefs to mingle with their colleagues and trade show exhibitors from more than 22 countries, at a Wine and Ceviche reception sponsored by the Wines of Slovenia with ceviche by Jaguar, Coconut Grove and Whole Foods Market. Sponsors will be able to showcase their products at the event to increase their brand recognition. Invited chefs will be offered complimentary parking directly accross from the Miami Beach Convention Center - Hall C, red carpet registration and a Passport to visit the booths of their choice. At the reception held on the trade show floor, they will be greeted by over 300 exhibitors and thousands of visitors – including executive chefs, chefs de cuisines, sous chefs, food & beverage managers and executives in the hospitality industry. There will be ample TV and media coverage. The highlight of "A Tribute to South Florida Chefs" is a seminar on Restaurants Today: Strategies for Improving your Bottom Line and Reducing Costs, chaired by this year's James Beard Award Winner for Best Chef of the South: Chef Michelle Bernstein, chef/owner - Michy's, with a panel of chefs: Jonathan Eismann, chef/owner - Pacific Time; Giancarla Bodoni, chef/owner - Escopazzo Organic Italian Restaurant; and Dewey Losasso, chef/owner - North 110.
